Traveling to pray for good fortune
From now until April 30, HCMC-based Ben Thanh Tourist is offering four special tours to destinations in the south, serving the demands of those want to combine travel with a pilgrimage to pray for good fortune during the traditional Lunar New Year holiday.
The main objective of these tours is a visit to a pagoda or a temple, followed by time to relax and visit other tourist sites at each destination.

There is a two-day and one night tour from Ho Chi Minh city to Chau Doc in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang. The province has many Buddhism relics which attract hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year, such as Ba Chua Xu Temple in Chau Doc City. The tour includes a stop at this temple in the Sam Mountain, where one can pray for good fortune, and a visit to the 33 meter high statue of Mitreya on the Cam Mountain.

On the way back to HCMC, the tour will stop at Vinh Sang Farm in An Thuan Hamlet, in An Binh Commune in Long Ho District. The Farm's staff will present the more adventurous tourists with an ao ba ba (a kind of shirt used by southern Vietnamese people), and a khan ran (bandanna) to catch fish from the shallow water; those who choose not to participate can stay on shore and cheer on their comrades. There are other entertainment activities such as ostrich riding, fishing, rowing and water skiing.

The tour costs VND991,000 per guest for groups of 10-14.

There is also a three-day and two-night tour from HCMC to the Hang pagoda in Ninh Thuan Province. The ancient pagoda is hidden under the forest trees and tourists are welcome to pray there. From there the tour travels to Vinh Hy Bay, the virginal bay of the province where travelers may enjoy a swim in the sea, and on to Po Klong Garai Temple, around 9 kilometers northwest of Phan Rang Town in an area of grape farming.

The tour is just under VND1.2mil per tourist for groups of 10-14.

The tour to the coastal city of Phan Thiet provides an opportunity for tourists to pray at Thay Thim Palace, which was recognized as a relic of art and architecture in 1997. This two-day tour costs VND851,000 per tourist for groups of 10-14.

The one day tour for tourists with just a limited time for travel includes the Ba Den Mountain to pray for good fortune in the Linh Son holy Mother Temple, a visit to the Hang Pagoda, and a chance to buy some products in the Moc Bai duty free supper market or join other entertainment activities in the Ba Den Mountain. The tour cost VND420,000 per tourist for groups of 10-14.
